Problem solving wedding stuff like crazy yesterday.
My shoes came and they are comfortable and fit my "walking abilities." However, my WIDE feet look like drag-queens attempting, but not quite making, themselves look petite. They're my back ups. Love the color (light gray-ish metallic) and, yes, they are WIDE width. Can't even look at feminine shoes without a W. These are firmly my backups if I can't do better. I need something along the top of my foot and these only have the toe strap covering the top (ankle strap looks good though). My feet are too naked from an overhead view. Once my other shoes come, I'll take aerial pictures :) Stay tuned ... it's a vision you won't soon forget.
Searched and searched for other shoes with no luck and realized I was ignoring David's Bridal because I turn my nose up to that shop. Don't know why. Ridiculous. I ordered two returnable pairs and we'll see where that gets me. One of the reviews said ... bought for my 87 year old grandmother so she wouldn't fall. PERFECT. Granny, you are my shoe hero.
P.S. Shoe requirements: wide width, have to lock in my toes with a solid strap, need some foot coverage, low (I mean low) wedge, some sparkle so I look like I tried.
If you know me, you know I HATE doing returns. It's a strange pet peeve of mine, but I realized, this wedding outfit dressing is going to require returns. No way around it giving what's going on in the new social normal (stay home!!).
Then I got busy buying online dresses. I have ZERO faith my dress is coming in so I decided to get busy looking for backups. Fingers crossed.

Might look cheap in person, but I'm giving it a go. Backup for the wedding. |

Another possible backup for the wedding. If it fits, if my other dress comes in ... this will be the rehearsal dinner dress (and the dress for my niece's wedding). I LOVE the look of it. |
Both are returnable. The floral one doesn't ship until mid-April and has a 30 day return. Perfect timing. I should have the gray one this month -- no time limit on return and I can return to the store.
It FEELS good to take my power back. I don't have control of so many things, but I don't have to surrender to the circumstances. I have choices, solutions and that's empowering.
This week will be another round of buying-and-doing-stuff-so-I-can-relax. My eyeliner is just about empty and I need to go to the mall to buy it. Cake knife should be ready for pick-up. Need to grab a birthday gift for a friend that's in-store only. Picking up Releash mugs in the city from our events coordinator to send in a feel-better gift box for my BIL. Need another Trader Joe's run and some pantry items that are running low. Getting the shopping finished IN CASE there is a big outbreak.
Being prepared relaxes me like nothing else. I can do thought work, etc, but combined with ACTION, the worry is much less.
Happy weekend! Later gators.
