Back To My Asheville Self

Yesterday brought me full restoration and back to my Asheville self.  The rain and humidity moved out and what was left was nothing short of perfect.  Lite breeze, cool air, big puffy clouds.

I had the coaching call about people pleasing.  Take away ... I feel frustration, annoyance, aggravation at having to repeat my intention (i.e. NOT drink) as a coping mechanism because I really feel guilty (not participating in the sociableness of it and making this person feel uncomfortable with her choice because I'm not drinking too).  Guilty is a harder emotion for me to allow.  Frustration = THEY are doing wrong.  Guilty = I AM doing wrong.  Of course, neither is true.  Knowing what is underneath the frustration helps a lot.  Also, expect THEIR behavior, expect MY reaction and ALLOW both.  It'll help it move on and not ruminate all night in my head, effectively ruining a nice time and opportunity for connection.  Good session today.

I rode the Peloton and hit up the teahouse.  I found a book on my shelf that I haven't read -- I forgot a friend left a few books for the LFL.  It's good so far.

Then a walk back to the outdoor cafe (did I mention the perfect weather).  And a quick walk and trip to Trader Joe's for fruit and veggies to bring home.

Here are a couple of thrift finds from the weekend.  Both under $4.

Little glass in back is from the
beer tour.   I'll use it for flowers.

Very apropos quote on the walk today.

Came home, did a quick clean and packed up for the trip home today.  Since it was so nice, I decided to do an evening walk.  Almost home and a big old bear stepped out of the woods into the street.  He turned and walked toward me -- about 4 car lengths away walking pretty fast toward me.  I backed into a driveway, waving my arms.  The owners were outside and let me hang out for a bit.  I had to backtrack and walk all the way around to get back home -- not running into that guy again.  Asheville adventures.  These bears don't attack, but you need to give them space.  My knees were shaking -- that was a bit too close.

I had an upset stomach overnight.  Not great sleep and it's a little wonky this morning.  Maybe a short walk before I leave, but only if I feel okay after morning tea/coffee.

We'll be back in a couple of weeks with the dogs.  Looking forward to it, but first home and routine.

Have a good one.  Later gators.
