Race Day

Why do I get butterflies?  I can run 3 miles.  I can walk if I need to.  It's not a big deal, yet I feel "nervous" energy.  Not exactly actually nervous, but pretty close.  Also, mix it with a little dread.  I guess a race makes me push the run into totally uncomfortable zone and I don't look forward to that feeling.  I am looking forward to having it finished and hitting the post race FUN.  (I know, be present, enjoy the journey ... I'm going to try to sprinkle a few of those moments into the run.)

House is decorated (still waiting on the stocking holder though).  Yea ME!  Scrooge be damned.  It looks okay.  Lots edited and still not exactly where I'd like it, but it's good enough for this year.  It will help when we have the pictures hung over the sofa.  That's not helping matters.  I'll take pictures once I have the stocking holder up (aka hat rack).

I'm debating switching up the Christmas Eve meal -- SHOCKER!  My family vetos this change every year, but I think they'll enjoy it if I do.  It'll make my holiday cooking so much simpler and I can make the pain-in-the-butt ribs another time when I'm not doing a zillion, billion other things.  Time for a change, a new tradition, growth.  There will be lots of tradition still in place -- just beef instead of pork ribs.  How bad can that be?!?!  I can always change back if it's horrible.  Maybe ribs for New Years??  That's a good idea ... hmmmmmm ...

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel 3rd season released yesterday.  It's going to bump The Crown watching for me.  Still saving that one AND it's really complicated to watch Netflix on our current TV setup.  Prime is easy.  I bet I'll watch The Crown on my computer -- it's that bad -- you need FOUR REMOTES to make it happen and good luck getting back to regular settings.  Or I need hubby to be home to reset everything which means lots of interruptions while I watch -- Sophie's choice ... computer seems like the winner.

The dress return was a THING, but they got it done.  Ordering online only merchandise with PayPal is apparently a difficult return (even though it said store returns are okay).  WHBM called their help line and made it happen -- nice customer service.  I found a backup pair of dressy booties at DSW.  It's the rage to wear them with dresses -- but this formal of a dress?  And now I'm panicking that my dress is TOO fancy.  I'm going to check with a couple of the ladies ... just in case.  Waiting on the shoe glue for my Old Faithfuls.  My girl-card seems to be on the fritz.

I met up with my girlfriend -- she had a drink, I had food.  Worked out well.  Quick catch up.  She's under the weather again -- cold, so we kept it quick.  She felt better Thursday and took a dive again yesterday.  I appreciate that she came anyway :)

I checked on the address for Miss Rosa and delivery is FAR.  Dang.  Well into the depths of the city.  It's going to be a long day.  That said, on the way home I'm grabbing take-out and sitting my butt on the sofa for an evening with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (if I can stay awake).

I did some reading ... Lying Next to Me and it's getting good.  I love SUSPENSE -- according to reviews, lots of twists and turns and keeps you guessing.

Off to take care of dogs.  Rosa needs to be harnessed and leashed, my old guy is frail and blind and Duke has wild morning energy.  It's like 3 care plans all morning.

I'm thinking of those HILLS -- need to stop.  Enjoy the PRESENT.  Lordy, I'm a work in very, very, very slow progress.  Happy Saturday.  Later gators.
