Me, Myself and Three Dogs

Hubby left bright and early.  The dogs and I are fending for ourselves.  This is awesome, but tomorrow morning will be RUSHED getting all three ready for me to leave for the race.  I have to leave by 7 o'clock and that's a push.

Weather is warming for tomorrow and will be fine for the run.  Phew.  It could have gone either way.  My girlfriend confirmed she's in so all set to have fun.

I'm about 1/3 finished decorating.  My decorations DO NOT fit this house.  Ugh and dang.  It's hard.  I'm counting this as a transition year and plan to find some new stuff as things go on sale.  I have ideas for next year ... fortunately no company or entertaining happening this December, so I don't really care.  Also, our family room tree is on the wall where we have no pictures yet -- looks so SAD!!

Poor tree ...

I tried on the dress for the party and it will work.  I don't LOVE it, but I think it checks the boxes.  I ordered in 2 sizes so I'm heading to return one today (White House Black Market).  I think Rosa will be good by this afternoon (she has to be cone free by tomorrow anyway).

I'm meeting my jet lagged friend at the shopping plaza -- she feels better and wanted to meet for coffee this afternoon.  This works -- if she has to cancel, I'm still doing what I need to do.

I have a shoe dilemma.  I can't walk in grownup shoes -- I try, I fail.  I have this one pair from 20 years ago (I brought it when I was turning 30) and it works for all black dress shoe needs in the winter.  It doesn't look great, but doesn't stand out either.  Here's what I found.

It's completely in half.
Opens up to the bottom.

I'm devastated.  I ordered shoe glue and have great hopes to bring her back to life.  I think this is another move casualty.  The shoe is by Amanda Smith and her stuff is only on EBay.  Looking for some DSW magic today, just in case the glue won't hold.

Is it strange to wear a super glued, rubber shoe with a formal dress??

Once I get the shoes worked out, I only have to figure out a gift.  This is a formal, big party and the gift should reflect it.  I know there's a boutique she likes -- maybe a gift card is best (and easiest).  Formal stuff gets me STRESSED.  I'm not girly enough that it ever feels easy.  I'm having my hair done -- perfect time to run another trial for the wedding -- this helps with the getting-ready-stress.  Big expense in a big expense month -- that's adding to my discomfort about it all.

How's the unofficial diet, you ask?  Not bad.  No wine, no junk, but still some questionable eating (ie snacking instead of meals).  Such a slow roll to healthier.  I'm going to make appointments to look at dresses in early January.  There's my first goal.  I also think I'll be the cliche and do a more formal diet in January.  Running out of time.

My nails are clicking and clacking like crazy.  THIS time I'm not waiting so long to get them done, I say confidently.  I called and my nail tech switched her days off this month.  Another week it is ...

I'm having low energy this week.  Monthly stuff?  Pulling down on SUGAR?  Getting a cold?  I actually stopped a workout yesterday.  My body wasn't having it.  Since I have the race tomorrow, I felt it was best to be conservative.  I'll do some power walking, pushups and stretching today.  Nice and easy.

I downloaded Lying Next to Me -- Gregg Olson.  I started and read for about 10 minutes and wasn't feeling it.  Suspense, mystery.  Sounds good, but I wasn't in that kind of mood last night.  I've been extra picky with reading lately.  I don't like buying and not finishing the book so I'm reluctant to get some of these big, virtual book club selections.  They don't get great reviews and I wonder if there there are other factors in play with the recommendations.  (Connection to the author, connection to the publisher, etc.)  Feast or famine.

Happy Weekend.  I'll be fretting over shoes and Christmas decor while taking care of dogs LOL.  Wish us all luck.  Have a great day -- later gators.
