Joy to the World
Today should be a fun, joy-filled day. I'm celebrating a friend's birthday with a food and history tour in Atlanta. This friend is one of the nicest, most generous people you'll meet - honestly, to know her is to love her. This summer she offhanded mentioned that her best gift would be a day of fun planned without her involvement - "just show up and have an adventure." I told her, that's what we would do for her birthday.
It's going to be fun taking a food tour and fun doing something special for a special friend. Double win!
But let's chat SHOES ... again.
I'm not sold on the off-white booties, so I ordered a boat-load of shoes on Amazon. 5 pair. Don't judge LOL. I'll be doing some returns. Hopefully, also keeping a couple of pair. I need a stash of dressy shoe basics for winter so I NEVER have to go through this drama again hahahaha! Good news is they were all inexpensive. They'll come while we're away so I won't know until Tuesday.
The RING is ready and pickup is Tuesday. Cue the mass excitement!
Our PHB call last night was good (minus a sick member). The lesson was on forgiveness, setting boundaries, saying NO, saying YES and how to navigate unhealthy relationships. My biggest take-away was when she said any HEALTHY relationship allows you to show up as yourself and the relationship still thrives. BE AUTHENTIC. If you are being "someone else" in a relationship, examine why ... and fix it. The fix comes in many forms. Don't sell yourself short to please others or out of fear of judgement or to be liked.
I'm busting through so much of my holiday CRAP list. I finished buying, wrapping and mailing my niece's engagement box. I also wrapped and boxed my BFFs Christmas gift which I'll mail soon. I don't know what happened in my past life that I HATE mailing packages, but it's a curse for sure!! (And, yes, I realize all the shoe returns will be mail backs - ugh). The time-sensitive pressure seems to be fading as I'm getting stuff finished and out of the way. I even started some packing for the trip.
I'm up an hour early and have a filled morning so I'm cutting this short today. I want to remember to take some pictures of the tour (and food!!) and get my holiday decorations pictures too. Stay tuned ... have a great day ... later gators.
