Yesterday felt like vacation.
We started with an actual meal out at a breakfast place down the road. Good choices for both of us. We needed to eat something before the hike in the afternoon. Tale of two breakfasts ...
Tofu scramble for me. Chocolate filled croissant french toast for hubby. |
The hike was 4 miles instead of 6 because we went up, not around and I was DEAD! It was a mountain climb with scary heights, loose rocks and a few big cliffs. We were on our way down on the steep summit when my BIL said there was a tarantula on the trail. I bravely walked by and avoided falling over the ledge. Turns out he was joking (I found out at dinner), but that counts on my BRAVE meter. We did see the spider ground holes EVERYWHERE. Eek.
We came across 2 hikers completely unprepared for the hike. Jeans, no water. I gave them one of my water bottles on the way down. What were they thinking?!? Good deed for the day and turns out that's the law in AZ -- if someone needs water and you have enough, you have to share.
My back seems okay today. We're planning another hike on Thursday, but based on my chicken-shitness, we're not doing the cave hike. Maybe mall-walking is more my level lol.
After the hike we went to an early dinner. GF pizza in a cute town decorated for Christmas.
Looks like I'm getting my monthly today or tomorrow based on my temperature drop last night. I'm sleeping horribly, recovering horribly. Once again the timing is bad for a vacation -- every trip this year.
Today is an "urban" day. Thrift and antique shopping. I have limited room in the suitcase, but I can replace the space for the gifts I brought to AZ - fingers crossed for some good finds.
I'm rallying from the start of the trip, but I wish I felt better. This is the EXACT pattern from my trip to HH. Energy is off too and I think that's why the hike felt so hard yesterday.
Later gators.
