I made sure to give priority to FS yesterday. It makes me feel better -- aligned with MY concept of self (listened to a podcast with Elliot Aronson who used this term, can you tell?). Side note, I'm deeper diving into Elliot Aronson, a social psychologist -- podcasts, ordered a book. He's very interesting, 91 years old now -- his first mentor was Maslow.
Started with a morning stroll for coffee, but instead of coffee I bought a reusable cup and filled it with infused water from the lobby.
New cup is water tight. I'll use it in hiking packs. |
Took a solo 5 mile walk ... explored ... noticed things.
Looks like feet. |
Looks like a cowboy the way the holes opened for the face. |
Arizona sun is no joke and the air quality is bad. No monsoons this summer (from large volcano eruptions this year over the world) left a trapped valley of poor air and allergens. I felt it on the walk.
Next up shopping. The first stop, Carefree, AZ. Adorable, great shopping. We passed on 2 interesting lunch options (not my call) and headed to Cave Creek.
Cave Creek is a total tourist trap. Didn't find anything worth my interest. We ate at a restaurant my family had eaten at before but I have no idea why they wanted to go back. It was basically a SouthWest Apple Bees-like kind of place -- everything breaded and frozen so no modifications. Luckily, I had veggies for breakfast. Soup and cucumber salad for lunch at the restaurant -- not a bad choice, but it was just okay and cost me $30. I was bummed we had interesting, healthy, quality options less than 10 minutes away. This is when I'm a food snob.
Tourist trap. |
Back to the resort. Hubby was still golfing for a couple more hours so I went to the pool to read.
Old title, but I never read it. It's really good so far. I enjoy a "family saga" story. |
Pool ready. |
Working on FS for today too. We have another hike, a couple of hours at the pool and then meeting for an early dinner. This restaurant choice looks better - fingers crossed. I'm excited for today and, honestly, excited to be nearing the end of the trip. I want to go home to my dogs.
Later gators.
