Interview Day

I have a 90 minute interview with the volunteer organization this afternoon.

And I might be getting shingles again.  My eye is burning and itching in THAT spot -- started last night.  It's worse this morning but no spreading or blisters.  Guess I'll know by tonight.  I'm in the window for my 2nd vaccination (2-6 months).  I have it on the calendar for next week.

It's a new month.  Maybe this can be a fresh start to the "jinx" that's been July (provided I don't have shingles lol).

The volunteer interview is to see if we're a match.  I'm not nervous because I'm either a fit or not.  I don't want to force anything, on either of our ends.  But, I never really enjoy NEW and not knowing where I'm going or  being on the spot ... so I have a bit of dread-ish feelings.  And I don't feel my best right now.  That's all "normal" me stuff though.  Probably will never change.

I leave for Asheville tomorrow.  I really want this to be the re-group I need.  I've planned out the visit because that makes for a fun stay.  Weather may cause a few tweaks though.  Hopefully the backup plan is fun enough too :)

I read this yesterday.  It was fast and a bit basic.  Started well, kind of sweet message -- but the plot driving everything was a blah.  It was in my TBR pile from a long time ago.  Not sure how I ended up with the recommendation.  It tried to be a romance and a mystery and a suspense story but never really accomplished anything well.  Beach read or airplane read.  Easy, light and finished in a couple of hours.  I actually think I planned to take this to CO last fall for the wedding -- given the title.  I don't remember why I didn't.

I'm taking a hodgepodge of books to Asheville.  I'm not running out of reads like last time!  (I'm also taking a book set of historical fiction that I'll leave for emergency reading.)  2 library books I'll pick up today -- Ireland travel guide and a spoken word book that a friend recommended.  I have Gretchen Rubin's, Better Than Before for an inspiration re-read.  One of the best habit books I've read.  And these classics (part of my 23 for 2023).  This should be plenty (!!)  I'll have 3 big novels from the library waiting for me when I get back.

Another part of my backup plans and/or extra is a free calligraphy class that started yesterday.  I printed the workbook.  My eldest and DIL gave me a set of pens for my birthday last year.  I never could get it so I'm trying again.  Hopefully this helps my lettering for rock painting too (that was the thought behind the gift).

Have a good day.  Later gators.
